Lessons I have learnt

I will never regret the day I walked through the front door at Calvary and asked the question

'Can I please talk to the Volunteer Manager'?

That was the day that changed my life.

Fifteen years ago I became a volunteer at Calvary Hospital.

To describe the experience is easy.

I have had the most amazing journey with many people, who, at the end stage of their life's, have let me enter into theirs......this is a privilege and an honour.

These people have taught me many things, which I now apply to my life.......

I have learnt to cherish every single day on this earth, tell the people you love that you love them, be compassionate, be caring and be kind.

This is the wisdom that I have taken on board.

Volunteering in Palliative Care is one of the best decisions I have ever made....and I will never look back.

Being there for others... is what life is all about.
