Hi Jenni,
Just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate your visits. 

I was feeling quite down until you arrived. I'd been depressed for several days and your company brought me out of it, as always.

If you ever have any doubts about the effectiveness of your voluntary work, don't. You make my world a much better place.
